Henri Maier

Opera director retd; Managing director opera events.
Born in 1946 in Strasbourg in a family of German origin. Studied social science in Strasbourg (philosophy - Jura - music). 

During 1972-1983 he worked as assistant of the administration manager and administrator of the Ballet du Rhin, later he hold the position of Artistic adviser of the general manager in the Opéra du Rhin. From 1983-1985 Henri Maier was a representative of the Administrateur Général in the Opéra National de Paris. He was responsible for the Opéra-Comique, the programmation " out of house " and the creations.
In years 1985-2001 he worked as the General Manager in the Opéra de Montpellier which got the title of Opéra National in 2001. The french professional association of music critics chooses Henri Maier the Musical Personality of the Year 2000. In years 2001-2009 Henri Maier was the Intendant of in the Oper Leipzig.

From 2007 he established Opera Events – the company which mentoring young opera singers. Henri Maier is still actively teaching France, Canada, Russia, China, Japan and coaching French operas in different opera-houses in Germany and abroad.

He has several decorations:

- Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite
- Verdienstkreuz am Bande des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland
- „Médaille Beaumarchais”
