The 2nd Klaudia Taev International Competition for Opera Singers took place in May 2 - 6, 2001.
The participants of the competition came from several countries: Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Hungary, Georgia, Moldova and Estonia. The patron of the Competition was the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Estonia Mrs. Melissa Wells, the daughter of world famous Estonian singer Miliza Korjus.
The Competition was held in three rounds. First time the final round was with an orchestra.

Virgilius Noreika (Lithuania) – Soloist of Lithuanian National Opera, Head of Voice Department of Estonian Academy of Music
Georg Malvius (Sweden) – Opera and Musical director; Professor at University of Gothenburg
Paul Himma (Estonia) – General Manager of Estonian National Opera
Urve Tauts (Estonia) – Soloist of Estonian National Opera, Disciple of Klaudia Taev, Vocal teacher of Estonian Academy of Music
Erki Pehk (Estonia) – Artistic Director of the Competition, Conductor at the Estonian National Opera
