Laimonas Pautienius
is the leading Lithuanian baritone and the winner of the 2nd Klaudia Taev Competition in 2003.
From 1991-1997 he studied at the Lithuanian Music Academy with famous Lithuanian opera singer Prof. Virgilijus Noreika.
In 1997 Laimonas Pautienius made his debut in G. Puccini’s “Tosca” as Spoleta in the Lithuanian National Opera. At the present time in his repertoire in LNO, there are the following roles: Don Giovanni, Yeletsky, Eugene Onegin, Silvio, Conte di Luna, Lescaut, Homonay, Carnero, Danilo, Marcello, Shaunard, Papageno, Marco (Gianni Schicchi), Albert (Werther), and others.
Since 1999 Laimonas Pautienius sings also in the Kaunas State Musical Theatre where in his repertoire are roles of Belcore, Germont, Roucher (Andrea Chénier), Gustavo (Das Land des Lächelns), Falke (Die Fledermaus), René (Der Graf von Luxemburg), Mercutio (Roméo et Juliette) and others. Since 2000 he works also in the Klaipeda State Musical Theatre where is sings Janusz (Halka) and Perchik (The Fiddler on the Roof).
After winning the Klaudia Taev Competition in 2003 he sang in two productions of the festival PromFest – The title role in Demon (by A. Rubinstein) in 2005 and Escamillo in 2007. This year he sings Pandolf in Cendrillon.
Afterward, he often sang in the Estonian and Latvian National Operas where he has sung roles of Germont, Yeletsky, Don Giovanni, Le grand Prêtre (Samson et Dalila) “Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Orcan (Les Paladins), Sharpless, Escamillo, etc.
In the years 2009 – 2020, he was a member of the ensemble of Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Dusseldorf/Duisburg). His repertoire included Onegin, Silvio, Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Don Giovanni, Conte, Sharpless, Marcello, Achilas (Julius Cesar), Germont, Ford (Falstaff), Posa, Belcore, Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Albert (Werther), and others.
Laimonas Pautienius is also a valued concert singer. He has performed with leading Lithuanian orchestras with famous Lithuanian maestros V. Viržonis, G. Rinkevičius, J. Domarkas, etc. He has given concerts in the USA, Germany, France, Sweden, Latvia, and Estonia.
Laimonas Pautienius is the winner of several competitions: the Republican J. Gruodis singers competition (1996), “Operetta – my love” (2002), and the 3rd Klaudia Taev International Competition for Young Singers in Pärnu (Estonia).
In the years 2001, 2004, and 2011 he was granted the highest award of the Lithuanian theatre – “Golden stage cross”. In 2003 he got The “Fortune” statue from the Lithuanian Theatre Union. In 2003 he was announced as the opera soloist of the year in Lithuania for the role of Don Giovanni.
